Today, we are thrilled to share that within the WP4 effort of THRILL project, the ELI-Beamlines team joined by GSI and HZDR teams, carried out a detailed study to assess the performance of the ATON 180 mm and 300 mm aperture amplifier types at different repetition rates (1 shot per 1 min, 2 min, 5 min) and with changing flow rate of the coolant between the slabs, producing valuable data for further development.
The 10PW class ATON laser system features the largest commercially developed actively cooled amplifiers to date. It was designed and delivered by National Energetics, Ekspla and ELI-BL to Czechia. ELI Beamlines team further upgraded the design of the amplifiers to improve the performance of the laser chain.
The results have been published in the “Report on the characterization of ATON laser amplifier”, which is available online: https://www.thrill-project.eu/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/D4.1-Report-on-the-characterization-of-ATON-laser-amplifier.pdf
